Job Description
If you are an Accessibility subject matter expert with a passion for helping ensure people with disabilities can access websites, applications, PDFs etc., then this is the position for you! Insight Global is looking to add a SME Accessibility Consultant for a contract-to-hire. This position will be hybrid and requires one to go onsite 3 days a week in either the San Francisco, Concord, CA or Tempe, AZ location or at a West Coast location.
This individual will be joining the WIM Digital team and will consult on public sites and brokerage platforms. This role's main duties are to consult in early design phases, not just testing. The responsibilities of this job consist of providing guidance and educating developers, designers, writers, document creators, product owners, etc. on Accessibility. The best candidates are proficient in WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 (levels A and AA and AAA), can determine which violations have occurred, and can help the appropriate people find solutions for fixing them. We also need people with demonstrated experience testing using JAWS, VoiceOver, NVDA, Color Contrast, Browser Zoom, etc., and have a familiarity with automated testing tools such as WAVE or axe, but we're looking for so much more an expert in accessibility, not just testing. This is in an Agile methodology, so Agile experience is preferred.
Required Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated experience working as an Accessibility subject matter expert
- Must have clear communication skills and be comfortable providing feedback while also educating others on all things Digital Accessibility
- Experienced manually testing digital properties, such as PDFs, websites, and mobile apps for accessibility, using JAWS, VoiceOver, NVDA, and other assistive technologies as well as checking color contrast, browser zoom results, etc.
