Job Description
The Accounting Clerk plays a key role in the daily operations of the finance department, and is primarily responsible for high-volume cash application, processing batch remittances, and manually resolving payment exceptions. This role supports franchisee billings, credit/debit note reconciliations, and supplier invoice processing while ensuring strong, positive business partnerships. Additionally, the Accounting Clerk assists both the franchise and corporate accounting functions with period-end duties and collaborates on process optimization and system automation initiatives within NetSuite.
Responsibilities
• Process and allocate a high-volume of customer payments and complex batch remittances to corresponding outstanding invoices; proactively research, investigate, and manually resolve payment discrepancies and unapplied cash when automated system applications do not occur.
• Partner with the Manager, Financial Reporting to identify efficiency gaps, streamline core accounting workflows, and optimize processes within NetSuite to improve system automation and reporting accuracy.
• Provide support and assistance to other finance team members with ad-hoc duties to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and to consistently meet deadlines

Required Skills & Experience
• A minimum of a Grade 12 education, and 2 years of accounting experience.
• Familiarity with fundamental accounting principles and experience with Excel, Word, and accounting software.
• Exceptional communication skills, and the ability to build collaborative relationships and influence others.
• Experience with NetSuite, SAP Concur, collaborative technology software tools, such as the Google suite of products, and/or artificial intelligence (AI) productivity applications is an asset.
