Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager – Utility & OEMs to support in the US commercial market. This individual is responsible for expanding footprint across utilities and electrical OEMs. The role blends key account management, new business development, and strategic market expansion across the power, grid modernization, and advanced transportation sectors.
This individual will manage existing utility/OEM accounts, build new relationships, drive cross‑selling across testing, engineering, and hydrogen infrastructure services, and lead proposal/RFP efforts. The role requires a strong technical communicator who can engage engineering-heavy stakeholders while also being a proactive hunter.
This particular role is remote, however, travel is a component of the job comprising 60% travel and 40% business development.
Core Responsibilities:
Previous Key Account Management Experience - Grow existing utility & OEM accounts, identify cross‑sell opportunities across portfolio.
Previous New Business Development - Prospect, cold call, and build new relationships using SalesNav/Apollo/ZoomInfo (or similar tools)
Proposal & Project Leadership - Lead RFP responses, coordinate with engineering/testing teams, negotiate terms.
Market & Competitive Analysis - Track regulatory changes, technology trends, and competitive shifts; build business cases for new offerings.
Previous experiences selling in-person at conferences, client meetings, and technical events.

Required Skills & Experience
6–10 years BD experience in utilities, energy, power systems, or related technical services.
Technical background — Engineering degree (Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical) or strong technical aptitude.
Experience selling to Utilities & OEMs — Must be comfortable speaking with engineers, operators, and technical SMEs.
Previous Sales Capabilities:
Comfort with cold outreach — Must be willing to cold call (previous candidate failed here).
CRM proficiency — Salesforce/HubSpot/Pipedrive.
Prospecting tools — SalesNav, Apollo, ZoomInfo.
Trade show selling — Ability to represent Powertech at frequent conferences.
Presentation & communication excellence — Comfortable presenting to technical and executive audiences.
Willingness to travel to tradeshows and conferences a couple times a month and must have a valid passport
Remote work readiness — Prospecting from home when not traveling.
Time zone alignment — EST or PST.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Strong sales track record — Demonstrated win rate in technical BD.
Existing utility/OEM relationships — Connections in US utilities or OEMs.
Engineering consulting experience — Helpful given Powertech’s service mix.
Experience with hydrogen, grid modernization, or power systems testing.
