Data Engineer

Insight Global is hiring a Data Engineer to join a large retail client based in Vancouver, BC on a primarily remote basis (1 day per month onsite). This individual will join the Data Enablement squad and play a key role in designing, building, and supporting scalable data pipelines that power analytics and reporting across the business. The role partners closely with product, IT, and analytics stakeholders to translate data needs into reliable, well engineered solutions using the Microsoft stack.

Responsibilities:
• Implementing & supporting team members in building a robust data pipeline from different internal/external sources using Microsoft Stack
• Using Azure BI services creating reusable components for the rapid development of data platform
• Working with multiple IT and Product Owner stakeholders to interpret Data & Analytics needs and priorities from a technical perspective.
• Providing technical design, coding assistance to the team to accomplish the project deliverables as planned/scoped.
• Striving for excellence in every aspect of your job, including but not limited to culture, communication, quality of products, engineering practices, and tools.
• Utilizing agile methodology best practices to deploy tools iteratively.
• Seeking out and identifying opportunities for improvements both within the team and within the department
• Working with the leadership team to set the standards for software engineering practices within the engineering team.

• 3+ years of technical development experience on Microsoft Azure
• Experienced working in an ecommerce data team
• 3+ years of experience in Data Modelling and ETL processes within ERP systems & Modern Analytic platforms: data lake, data warehouse, Datamart, dimensional models.
• Strong exposure to Azure Data factory and Azure Databricks
• Working knowledge to design and develop in Synapse/Snowflake/Redshift
• Create data models including but not limited to conceptual, logical & physical.
• Strong knowledge & experience in writing SQLs & performing optimization of query.
• Complete understanding of ETL or ELT processes with the ability to implement
• End to end solution flow for the requirement, or the business case, using Azure Data factory.
• Experience working with Architects & Functional owners to be able to think through conceptual, logical & physical Data Models
• Ability to create data flow diagrams integrating multiple systems with data platform for product creation.
• Strong SQL knowledge.
- Experience with PII / Sensitive Data
• Experience working in Power Automate

- Experience with HR Systems
