Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Network Operations Engineer to join a leading Telecommunications client in Canada. This is a fully remote role within Canada.

The Network Operations Engineer will support enterprise network operations initiatives focused on Cisco router software upgrades, configuration compliance, and network refresh programs. This role was created due to capacity gaps following team attrition and supports several projects that kicked off earlier this year and are being consolidated under this group.

The successful contractor will play a key role in executing and overseeing network changes, ensuring stability, minimizing customer impact, and supporting large-scale upgrade efforts. While some work occurs during business hours, a portion of the role requires after-hours maintenance window support.
This is not a telecom-specific role—enterprise network experience is sufficient.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform Cisco router software upgrades, including migration-related activities within the company's network environment
- Audit, remediate, and clean up network configurations to ensure compliance and operational consistency
- Support Cisco refresh programs, including upgrading existing gear (not a Juniper migration at this time)
- Assist with DNAC (Cisco DNA Center) onboarding and operational use
- Prepare, submit, and manage change requests (CM process) during business hours in preparation for after-hours network changes
- Execute and support after-hours network changes during scheduled maintenance windows
- Oversee assigned deliverables and ensure projects are executed as planned
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure minimal customer impact
- Support projects that may start as “one-off” initiatives but have potential to expand into larger programs
- Help free up internal FTEs to focus on enterprise-specific initiatives by handling generic network operations work

Working Hours
- Standard workweek: 37.5–40 hours
- Majority of planning, coordination, and administrative work occurs during business hours
- After-hours work required during maintenance windows (typically 10:00 PM PST, approx. 2–3 hours when changes are scheduled)
- Network changes are not nightly; after-hours work is periodic
- Contractors may shift their schedule later in the day to accommodate overnight work
