Job Description
The Intermediate Stations Engineer, reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, is responsible for delivering high‑quality substation engineering work across the full project lifecycle—from design development and construction support to project closeout.
This role serves as Engineer of Record for in‑house substation projects and as the owner’s engineer for outsourced designs, ensuring all work meets FortisBC standards, technical requirements, and schedule expectations.
The Stations Engineer performs advanced engineering analyses, provides mentorship to junior staff, and manages a portfolio of small to mid‑sized projects with strong attention to risk, quality, and project controls. Working closely with Planning, Operations, Project Management, and the broader engineering team, the role ensures effective collaboration, timely delivery of engineering packages, and proper documentation. The position also maintains up‑to‑date technical knowledge and contributes to continuous improvement across the engineering organization.

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
5+ years of substation engineering and project management experience in utility or industrial environments
Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC
Strong technical knowledge of utility systems, including stations, transmission, distribution, and substation design
Proven project execution skills with strong organization, communication, and teamwork
Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, Primavera, SharePoint, and analysis tools such as ETAP and CymeTCC
Solid understanding of utility safe work practices, policies, and procedures
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Mentorship Experience with EIT or Co-Op students is nice to have
