Job Description

This large construction company is looking for a Strategic Sourcing and Contract Specialist to serve as a subject matter expert supporting cross-operating group sourcing initiatives across Western and Central Canada and the United States. Working closely with the Manager, Strategic Sourcing, this role partners with operations and leadership to identify opportunities, align sourcing activities with business needs, and improve pricing, service levels, and supply chain resilience.

Responsibilities include conducting data and market analysis, assessing sourcing options, leading sourcing strategies and RFx processes, evaluating proposals, and supporting negotiations, pricing, contracting, and implementation. The role also contributes broad category management expertise, drives continuous improvement in procurement practices, and proactively identifies opportunities to optimize the supply chain and achieve annual cost-savings targets.

• Conduct market studies, spend analysis, and cost modeling to assess supplier capability, competitiveness, and savings opportunities
• Identify procurement trends, inefficiencies, and category optimization opportunities across Ledcor’s spend
• Collaborate with Operations to understand needs, define sourcing objectives, and support procurement optimization
• Develop and issue RFPs, evaluate responses, and prepare recommendations for supplier selection
• Lead vendor negotiations, pricing discussions, and contracting to secure optimal commercial terms
• Develop and execute implementation plans for new services, supplier partnerships, and sourcing strategies
• Partner with business units and supply chain teams to ensure benefits realization, manage demand, and align category strategies
• Support project startups and mobilization, including local vendor negotiations for partnered business units
• Lead and mentor the strategic sourcing team, overseeing workload distribution, performance, and issue resolution
Build strong supplier relationships and oversee vendor management processes, including scorecards and business reviews

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Law; SCMP/PMP/CPCM or equivalent certifications preferred
• 8-10 years’ experience in supply chain, with emphasis on strategic sourcing, procurement, or materials management
• Demonstrated success delivering end-to-end sourcing projects with measurable results
• Strong knowledge of supply chain best practices, category management, and adaptable sourcing strategies
• Experience in mid- to large-scale North American organizations; exposure to construction, infrastructure, mining, oil & gas, or telecom is an asset
• Proficient with e-procurement systems, RFx tools, modern sourcing platforms, Excel, and Power BI
• Advanced negotiation skills with suppliers, driving favorable commercial and relational outcomes
• Strong analytical and commodity expertise, including market analysis, cost modeling, and data-driven decision making
• Solid understanding of contract law, procurement contracts, and negotiation of commercial and legal terms
Team leadership experience, including supervising 2–3 staff, setting goals, allocating workload, and evaluating performance
