Job Description

Insight Global is looking for Civil Structural Engineer to join a prominent utility company in BC. This is a hybrid 4-days a week onsite role and 1 year long contract with high possibility for extension.

This role is for a Civil Engineer working on gas assets, primarily focused on capital sustainment projects. Responsibilities include leading and participating in civil and structural design reviews, particularly for natural gas transmission, distribution, and station-related standards. The engineer provides oversight on project schedules and ensures quality assurance for the civil components of capital projects. Day-to-day tasks involve working on gas sustainment initiatives such as foundation design, reviewing supplier drawings, supporting LNG and Major Projects teams, sharing standards with consultants, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams that include mechanical, chemical, electrical, and instrumentation engineers.

Required Skills & Experience

7+ years of Civil Structural Engineering experience - varied background will be considered (i.e., gas infrastructure, residential, commercial, power generation, etc.)

P.Eng designation with EGBC (Engineers and Geoscientists BC)

All certifications must be registered in British Columbia

Valid driver’s license

Familiarity with CSA W47 and W59 civil engineering standards

Experience in civil/structural engineering, including pipeline support, building selection, and foundation design

Proficiency in standard civil tasks such as site creation and slab design for meter support

Experience with foundation work specific to Western Canada

Background in residential structures, with preference for gas-related projects

Ability to handle stakeholder inquiries effectively

Proven experience working on multidisciplinary projects (mechanical, chemical, electrical, etc.)

Strong multitasking skills; capable of managing multiple projects and coordinating with various teams

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Civil/structural engineering experience with utility companies (e.g., ATCO, Enbridge)

Background in pipeline and oil & gas projects, similar to owner operator

Experience in building construction and structural design
