Insight Global is looking for a Backend Developer to join a dynamic team for an employer in Vancouver, BC. You will lead the backend integration of a third-party bikeshare feed using the General Bikeshare Feed Specification (GBFS), working directly with vendor data to build scalable services that power real-time updates. Youll develop backend infrastructure to support Google Maps integration, enabling geolocation and station visualization features. Using AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB), youll build and maintain microservices that ensure data reliability and performance. Youll also collaborate with internal teams to align technical solutions with user needs, while documenting and supporting a smooth handoff for long-term maintenance.

5+ years of backend development experience with a strong track record of delivering production-ready solutions
Proficiency in Node.js and/or Python for building APIs and processing data feeds
Hands-on experience with Google Maps API integration, including geolocation, mapping, and routing features
Experience working with AWS services, particularly Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB (or equivalent)
Strong understanding of microservices architecture and event-driven systems
Ability to independently assess technical requirements, propose solutions, and execute with minimal oversight
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Familiarity with General Bikeshare Feed Specification (GBFS) or similar open data standards
