Job Description
A large, enterprise healthcare client is looking for a DevOps Engineer to join a growing organization with the potential to go on-site in Phoenix, AZ in the next 6-12 months. The DevOps Engineer is responsible for maturing the DevOps mindset within the agile teams using techniques such as Acceptance Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery to provide quality products with seamless integration across Development, Quality Assurance, Infrastructure, Operations, and Release Management roles.
The successful candidate will be a servant leader who develops and supports a learning organization model through coaching, training, and mentorship. The candidate will be one that can adapt as necessary for unintended consequences of this change initiative and one that understands the value of commitments to delivery made by a development team.
Candidates will work in a DevOps team environment and are expected to work on both tactical and strategic assignments. Since the team is very young in its adoption of DevOps principles there is still a fair amount of manual maintenance work. Candidates are expected to handle the manual work while figuring out how to automate it.
The core hours will be 9am-5pm AZ time with potential on-call.
Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of coding experience with at least one of the following languages: VB.Net, Java, C#, C/C++, Go, Python or JavaScript
- 1+ years of Visual Basic (VBA) programming with Oracle PLSql, Powershell, bash or Postgress
- Experience with Cloud Technologies Azure or AWS
- Understanding of engineering fundamentals: unit testing, code reviews, Agile and DevOps
- Experience with at least one of the following: continuous integration / continuous delivery tools, REST API development, serverless architecture, containerization, IaC, public / private Cloud, application observability and/or messaging / stream architecture
- Experience with a ticketing system such as: Service Now
- Learning mentality / ability to take initiative within a team
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- 1+ years of VB.NET Programming experience
- Bachelors degree or higher in computer-based education program
- Understanding of distributed architecture design principles
- Development experience in Java and related tools/software
- Experience working in the healthcare industry
- Business rule engine experience
- Experience working in Unix/Linux environments
- Experience developing applications on Relational DBMSs with a preference towards Oracle
