Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. This position is primarily remote but requires candidates to be located in Arizona and available to attend occasional onsite meetings and critical payroll events throughout the year.
The Payroll Specialist will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for domestic salaried and hourly employees, maintaining compliance with payroll tax regulations, reconciling payroll records, and supporting year-end reporting activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Process payroll accurately and on time for domestic salaried and hourly employees.
• Reconcile payroll data, including earnings, deductions, garnishments, taxes, and other payroll-related transactions.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to support payroll changes and related activities.
• Prepare and maintain monthly payroll reports and supporting documentation.
• Generate quarterly payroll reports, including Workers' Compensation and United Way contribution reporting.
• Assist employees, auditors, payroll leadership, and other stakeholders with payroll inquiries, research, and issue resolution.
• Support year-end payroll processing, including W-2 preparation and tax filing activities.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local regulations.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and increase operational efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience

• 4+ years of payroll processing experience supporting salaried and hourly employees
• Strong understanding of payroll taxes, garnishments, deductions, and payroll reconciliation
• Experience preparing payroll reports and supporting year-end payroll activities (W-2s)
• Basic to intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
• High School Diploma or GED

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience with SAP Payroll (6+ months)
• Experience with ADP (6+ months)
• Accounting or payroll tax experience
• Experience supporting audits and payroll compliance activities
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
