Job Description

Insight Global’s client, a Technical System Integrator, is seeking an experienced Mainframe IMS Application DBA to support and administer IMS database environments within a large-scale IBM z/OS ecosystem. This role is responsible for database design, performance tuning, backup and recovery, database integrity, and ongoing support of mission-critical applications.

pay range: $67-74/hr

Required Skills & Experience

7+ years of IMS DBA experience supporting IBM z/OS environments.
Strong experience with IMS databases including Full Function, Fast Path, and HALDB.
Experience with database design, administration, performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Hands-on experience with backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and database maintenance utilities.
Experience supporting Sysplex Data Sharing environments.
Strong troubleshooting skills related to database abends, performance issues, and data integrity problems.
Working knowledge of JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, and REXX.
Experience supporting batch and online IMS DB/DC environments.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with IMS secondary indexing, logical relationships, replication, compression, or encryption.
Experience integrating IMS with DB2, CICS, MQ, or distributed systems.
Experience with OMEGAMON, MainView, BMC utilities, or similar monitoring tools.
Exposure to IMS modernization initiatives, including APIs or z/OS Connect.
Experience with large-scale database migrations, consolidations, or replication solutions.
Familiarity with ServiceNow, ISPW, or similar change management tools.
Experience working in highly regulated environments such as financial services, PCI, or SOX-compliant organizations.
