Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on Critical Facilities Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, and reliability of mission-critical data center infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring continuous uptime through the monitoring, troubleshooting, and repair of both electrical and mechanical systems, including power distribution and cooling equipment. The engineer will work as part of a 24/7 onsite operations team, responding to alarms, executing preventative and corrective maintenance, and supporting emergency response activities. This position requires a strong understanding of how critical environments function end-to-end, with the ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to changing conditions, and maintain high service standards. The role emphasizes ownership of work, minimizing reliance on third-party vendors, and delivering best-in-class performance to support system reliability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Required Skills & Experience
Hands-on experience with mission-critical infrastructure, including UPS systems, generators, switchgear, PDUs, and building controls
Experience with mechanical systems such as CRACs, CRAHs, chillers, and air handling units
Ability to monitor systems, respond to alarms, and perform troubleshooting and repairs in a live environment
Working knowledge of electrical distribution systems, HVAC systems, and building management/automation systems
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical one-lines, and schematics
Experience performing preventative and corrective maintenance on critical equipment
Familiarity with CMMS tools for tracking maintenance activities
Ability to create and follow MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions in high-pressure environments
Ability to work independently and within a team in a 24/7 operations environment
Willingness to learn both electrical and mechanical disciplines (regardless of primary background)
Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience; 5+ years preferred in data center or other critical environments
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience operating within a data center or similar mission-critical environment end-to-end
Advanced troubleshooting and predictive maintenance experience
Prior experience mentoring or training junior engineers (Level III expectation)
Relevant certifications such as OSHA 10 or NFPA 70E
Military experience in critical systems (e.g., electrical/mechanical operations)
Background with OEM or large-scale industrial equipment (e.g., HVAC, generators, power systems)
Formal training or certifications related to UPS systems or electrical/mechanical specialties
