Job Description

An Insight Global customer is seeking to hire a Fire Alarm Field Superintendent for a high-tech, large scale, construction project in the Queen Creek, AZ area. This person will be responsible for leading and supervising the installation and commissioning of fire alarm and detection systems across the entire project. Key responsibilities include:
- Plan and coordinate daily work activities based on project schedules (P6 schedule)
- Conduct pre-walks of installation routes to verify constructability, identify constraints, and ensure code compliance prior to installation
- Coordinate with other trades (mechanical, electrical, controls) to ensure proper system integration and sequencing
- Interface with inspectors, fire marshal, and local AHJ to support inspections, approvals, and turnover
- Ensure installations comply with applicable codes, including:
o National Fire Protection Association standards (including NFPA 72)
o National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Verify proper separation and routing of SLC (Signaling Line Circuits) and NAC (Notification Appliance Circuits)
- Oversee installation and integration of:
o Fire alarm control panels (FACP) and command centers
o Smoke detection systems, including duct detectors and air sampling systems
o Elevator recall/shutdown interfaces
o Fire/smoke dampers and associated controls
o Pull stations, notification devices, and evacuation systems
o Relay modules and interlock systems

VESDA / Aspirating Systems Expertise:
· Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of VESDA systems
· Review and validate system design, including pipe layouts and detector placement
· Perform and interpret Aspire calculations to confirm system performance
· Ensure installation meets manufacturer recommendations and industry standards
· Lead testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of aspirating detection systems

Commissioning & Quality:
· Lead commissioning activities including pre-functional and functional testing
· Ensure systems are fully operational, tested, and ready for inspection and turnover
· Identify and correct deficiencies prior to AHJ inspections
· Maintain high standards of QA/QC without reliance on external validation

Scheduling & Project Controls:
· Utilize P6 to track progress and drive field execution
· Align manpower and installation sequencing with project milestones
· Identify schedule impacts and develop recovery plans to maintain progress
· Provide accurate field reporting, progress updates, and forecasting

Candidates for this role can expect to work at the construction site full-time. Daily work is completed between 5 AM and 3:30 PM. This role is for a short-term contract initially but there is potential for contract extensions or full-time conversion. Extensions are determined from our client's needs in Arizona or if the candidate is willing to travel. If candidates are open to travel, there are likely more opportunities for a longer-term position. This role can pay between $55/hr and $65/hr but exact compensation will be determined based on candidate education and experience.

Required Skills & Experience

2-5+ years of experience in fire alarm installation, supervision, or related field
Strong working knowledge of NFPA 72 and NEC requirements
Proven experience coordinating with AHJs and managing inspections
Hands-on experience with complex systems including VESDA/aspirating detection
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and submittals
Experience with large-scale commercial or industrial projects preferred
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

NICET Fire Alarm Certification (Level II or higher preferred) OSHA 10
Manufacturer certifications (fire alarm and VESDA systems)
