Own packaging readiness for New Product Introduction (NPI) and sustaining programs.
Align packaging deliverables with overall product milestone schedules.
Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks before packaging becomes a critical path item.
Ensure packaging specifications, validation activities, and supplier releases are completed on time to support launch commitments.

Operational Impact & Simplification

Review supplier‑created packaging designs to ensure manufacturability and minimize downstream operational impact.
Drive SKU rationalization and configuration simplification across product lines.
Reduce unnecessary packaging variants while maintaining product protection, compliance, and customer requirements.
Evaluate packaging changes through the lens of labor efficiency, freight optimization, inventory complexity, training burden, and serviceability.
Develop reusable packaging frameworks and modular design approaches where feasible to enable scalability and reuse.

Supplier Coordination & Governance

Coordinate day‑to‑day execution with preferred packaging suppliers to meet quality, cost, and timing expectations.
Lead sample validation, pack‑out trials, and operational testing to ensure readiness for production and distribution.
Partner with Indirect Procurement/Sourcing on commercial strategy, supplier selection, and ongoing supplier performance management.

Systems & Data Integrity

Maintain accurate and complete packaging bills of material (BOMs) within PLM and ERP systems.
Improve intake processes, prioritization mechanisms, and overall workflow visibility for packaging workstreams.
Implement structured packaging gates within stage‑gate or product development processes.
Track, analyze, and report packaging KPIs such as cycle time, launch readiness, and variant reduction progress.

Cross‑Functional Leadership

Influence upstream product and design decisions to prevent downstream packaging and operational complexity.
Partner closely with Manufacturing, Distribution, and Operations teams to proactively identify and resolve friction points.
Serve as the operational voice of packaging in launch reviews, readiness forums, and cross‑functional decision‑making bodies.
