Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to join our team in Scottsdale. The ideal candidate will be a confident payroll professional with demonstrated experience owning the payroll process for a mid-sized, multi-state organization. This individual must bring strong analytical skills, hands-on payroll system expertise (ideally SAP), and the ability to navigate complex payroll situations with accuracy and independence.

Responsibilities:
Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a multi-state employee population.
Audit and reconcile payroll data; research and resolve discrepancies.
Perform manual wage, tax, and net pay calculations to validate payroll accuracy.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
Utilize SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP) and ADP for payroll processing, reporting, and analysis.
Partner with HR, Finance, and external vendors to resolve payroll-related issues.
Support testing, data validation, and process documentation during payroll system implementation.
Coordinate with the benefits to manage employee benefits deductions and contributions.
Ensure accurate and timely processing of benefits-related payroll deductions.
Conduct regular payroll audits and timekeeping transactions to ensure accuracy.
Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies.
Assist with internal and external audits related to payroll and timekeeping.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of payroll experience, including ownership of the payroll cycle in a mid-sized company.
Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll and tax regulations.
Strong knowledge of payroll practices, procedures, and regulations.
Advanced analytical skills and proven ability to audit raw payroll data.
Ability to perform manual calculations to verify payroll results.
Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Preferred experience with SAP Success Factors, SAP EC, ECP and ADP.
Prior involvement in payroll system implementations preferred.
CPP certification preferred, not required.
