Job Description

Effective Project Leadership
Leads projects by clearly defining, developing, and achieving project requirements, goals, budgets, and schedules for design and construction deliverables.
Oversees and coordinates project budgets and timelines while ensuring alignment with scope and quality expectations.
Manages project execution in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and best practices.
Takes full ownership of assigned projects or tasks, demonstrating leadership and accountability. Proactively resolves challenges and facilitates consensus among stakeholders.
Project Coordination and Communication
Acts as the primary project representative, ensuring stakeholder input is gathered and translated into actionable outcomes.
Coordinates and communicates project-related updates, issues, and resolutions across all relevant teams.
Provides regular status reports and milestone updates to stakeholders and leadership.
Schedules and coordinates work to minimize disruption to ongoing operations.
Project Review and Oversight
Reviews design documentation and oversees construction phases to ensure compliance with project requirements, design standards, and applicable codes.
Ensures project quality through effective team management, document review, site observation, and warranty phase monitoring.
Negotiates contracts and agreements, and manages related documentation and processes with accuracy and timeliness.
Construction Administration
Monitors construction progress and aligns expenditures with the approved budget, forecasting costs through project closeout and warranty.
Reviews and approves invoices, pay applications, change orders, and scope-related documentation.
Collaborates with contractors and vendors on owner-furnished and owner-installed items such as structured cabling, AV systems, furniture, and equipment.
Demonstrating Organizational Values
Continuously improves processes, resources, standards, and professional skills.
Serves as a subject matter expert and shares knowledge and lessons learned with peers.
Contributes to cross-functional initiatives such as hiring committees and process improvement teams.
Assists in maintaining internal design and specification standards.
Represents the department on ad hoc committees as needed.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's Degree
8+ years of experience working as Facilities, Design, or Construction Project Manager for a large valued commercial project
Able to lead a team of individuals across various departments

Higher Education Construction/Facilities experience
