An Insight Global customer in Tucson, AZ is looking to hire a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer for a full-time, permanent, role. This person will be on a team of about 5 engineers and responsible for designing, assembling, and packaging/shipping new diode laser systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in the defense industry specifically working on mechanical components, assembly and testing for similar laser or optical tools. This role will require you to spend about 50% of your time in a cleanroom/lab type environment. We can offer a salary of $110k to $120k for this role but exact compensation may vary based on education and years of experience.

- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
- 6+ years of experience working in a mechanical engineering capacity in the defense, semiconductor, of microelectronics industries.
- Experience with designing, assembling, testing and shipping complex laser or optics systems specifically tools that operate to the mm to micron level.
- Design experience using 3D and 2D design with SolidWorks and adhering to ANSI Y14.5M standards and GD&T.
- Designing and assembling heatsinks, optical attach (including large bulk optical attach), and colliders.
- Experience with ANSYS, thermal simulation tools to conduct design validation and reliability tests.
Experience working in a cleanroom environment - comfortable spending at least 50% of their time in the cleanroom or lab.
