The Protection Engineer creates engineering designs and schematic plans for new and existing protection facilities for both project interface and company wide applications. This candidate performs engineering studies, design calculations, protective relay coordination and settings, and evaluates alternative designs or processes related to protection facilities. They Specify material and protection equipment required for assigned projects and assists in the evaluation of suppliers and products, and as a project engineer/manager for protection projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Will have primary responsibility for small modification or revision projects.
Will assist more experienced engineers in large projects standards creation or process and procedure creation.
Will assist in the review and revision of material and design standards.
Develops designs and evaluates possible alternatives to meet both major and minor project requirements.
Designs Protection systems and related equipment required for effective control, monitoring, protection and maintenance of electrical generation, transmission, and distribution lines and equipment, commissioning checkout creation, and functional checkout.
