Job Description

A client in Phoenix, AZ is looking for a Radio Telecommunications Engineer to join their team. Responsibilities of this individual are shown below:
Troubleshooting (25%):
o Identify and resolve issues related to telecommunications systems.
o Investigate and troubleshoot communication errors, such as troopers being unable to communicate in specific areas or dispatcher challenges.
o Address electronic equipment issues from an IT perspective (networking, high-level IT).
Implementation (25%):
o Deploy and configure new telecommunications systems or upgrades.
o Ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components.
Design (50%):
o Create plans, blueprints, and engineering specifications for telecommunications infrastructure.
o Design circuitry and layout for effective communication systems.
Research and Evaluation:
o Gather technical information and evaluate new products and services from vendors.
o Stay informed about industry developments by attending meetings, conferences, and relevant events.
Legal Compliance and Planning:
o Research federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies.
o Develop long- and short-term plans for system updates, enhancements, and improved statewide telecommunications.
Site Selection and Development:
o Locate suitable communications sites.
o Conduct radio surveys and file necessary documents for approval.
o Draft construction drawings and oversee site development.
Equipment Inventory and Verification:
o Maintain and analyze the inventory of telecommunications equipment used by the client and client agencies.
o Verify proper frequency use and assignment, ensuring compatibility with existing FCC licensed users.

Required Skills & Experience

- 3+ years of experience related to land mobile radio Frequency Modulation (FM) two-way radio,
- Experience coming from a Networking IT background (routers, switches, etc.)
