Job Description

Our regional banking client is looking to hire a SQL DBA Manager to lead our team of 6 Database Administrators (DBAs) who are responsible for migrating our on-premises SQL Server databases to the Azure cloud platform. This is not a paper pushing manager role, but a hands-on technical leadership position that requires passion, expertise, and creativity. This individual's responsibilities will include:

- Manage and mentor the DBA team, ensuring they deliver high-quality work and meet deadlines and expectations.

- Oversee the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of database systems and applications in the Azure cloud environment.

- Monitor and optimize the performance, availability, security, and scalability of the database systems and applications.

- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, such as data integrity, concurrency, backup and recovery, replication, and migration.

- Establish and enforce database standards, policies, procedures, and best practices.

- Collaborate with other IT teams, such as developers, architects, and engineers, to ensure alignment and integration of database solutions with business requirements and objectives.

- Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in database management and cloud computing.

Required Skills & Experience

- Strong SQL DBA experience, specifically in migrating SQL Server databases to the Azure cloud platform, using tools such as Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Data Lake (Azure is strongly preferred but we are open to candidates with experience in a different cloud infrastructure)

- 2 years minimum managing a team of DBAs (open to candidates that do not have "manager" titles if they 1) have strong Azure SQL cloud migration experience and 2) acted as a leader or mentor in those roles

- Prior hands-on SQL DBA experience

- Excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership skills

- Need to be willing to go into the office 4x per week (hours in the office can be flexible if needed)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Oracle experience

- PowerBI, Ansible, or any automation experience
