Day to Day responsibilities:
A university is seeking a plant operator to join their growing team. The day-to-day breakdown is as follows:
- General plant operations -- 45%
- Assist in Equipment Maintenance, Repair and Documentation -- 40%
- Coordinating and communication -- 10%
- Other duties as assigned -- 5%
These positions are responsible for the operation and maintenance of all central plant equipment including boilers, chillers, and associated equipment in accordance with American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Arizona Department of Occupational Safety (ADOSH) codes and standards to ensure a working, living, and learning environment is maintained. Maintain district energy system of approximately 7 miles of tunnels and direct buried pipe systems to deliver steam, high temp hot water and chilled water to campus buildings. Operates valves, controls, and other central plant equipment to control the flow of air, gas, water, and steam while maintaining temperatures and pressures at designated levels in accordance with the American Boiler Manufacturers Association (ABMA) instructions, chiller manufacturer instructions, and University standards. Replaces minor piping and control components associated with the plant production and distribution systems. These positions are autonomous in nature which requires the operator to rely heavily on their own experience and knowledge.
