Job Description

We are seeking a Jr. Accountant who come from a strong background of T1 and T2 tax work to join our full service accounting client.

The ideal candidate will come with experience with small to medium-sized accounting shops/firms is required. The successful candidates will be comfortable providing comprehensive, hands-on full-service accounting, bookkeeping, and tax support to a diverse portfolio of small to medium-sized businesses.

Day to Day
• Client Support: Manage a diverse client base of small to medium-sized businesses with revenues ranging from $0 to $9M (most clients fall within the $100k–$300k and $1M–$5M ranges).
• Service Delivery: Execute hands-on full accounting services for companies, ranging from comprehensive daily business management to standard corporate tax filings.
• Core Accounting: Handle day-to-day bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, corporate tax reviews, and general tax support.
• Client Care: Proactively follow up with clients to track historical data and ensure their overall financial health.
• Work Style: Work primarily remote, utilizing online and cloud systems, while participating in mandatory weekly alignment and reporting meetings.

Responsibilities
• Oversee year-end close processes and accurate T2 corporate tax preparation.
• Conduct final reviews of journal entries, corporate taxes, and financial statements.
• Lead in-person year-end meetings with clients in the Edmonton area and virtually for clients outside of the Edmonton region.
• Manage full-cycle bookkeeping, accounting and daily bank reconciliations.
• Assist with the preparation and filing of T1 (personal) and T2 (corporate) taxes.
• Verify accurate data entry and process standard journal entries.
• Coordinate with clients to safely gather files and tax documentation.

Required Skills & Experience

Required Experience:
• Junior Role: 1–3 years of accounting and tax experience coming from a small-to-medium accounting office.
• Tax Expertise: Strong, proven exposure to both T1 and T2 compliance of small to medium sized corporations.
• Tech Stack: Complete proficiency with QuickBooks, CaseWare, and Intuit Profile.
Core Competencies: Excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently under tight turnaround times, and high trustworthiness.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
Experience handling cross-border accounting and tax compliance (Preferred N2H)
