Job Description

We are hiring a Data Scientist for a full-time, permanent role, based in Calgary. In this role, you will own the full lifecycle of data products—from ideation and complex modeling through deployment, monitoring, and iteration—while enabling business teams to maximize impact. You’ll work on high‑impact FinTech problems spanning fraud mitigation, credit risk, and growth optimization, partnering closely with cross‑functional teams to translate complex business problems into production‑grade, data‑driven solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

- 3–5 years of industry experience in Data Science or a similar analytical modeling role
- Hands-on experience applying statistical methods and/or machine learning to solve real business problems
- Proven experience deploying and maintaining data products in a production environment
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python (or closely related analytical languages)
- Experience owning models end‑to‑end, including monitoring, iteration, and performance evaluation
- Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into clear analytical requirements
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex insights to non‑technical stakeholders
- Experience working cross‑functionally with product, engineering, marketing, or risk teams

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Experience in fraud modeling, credit risk, or marketing / go‑to‑market analytics
- Background in consumer or small‑business financial products
- Experience building dashboards and reports using BI tools (e.g., Metabase)
- Hands-on experience with GCP, particularly BigQuery
- Experience using dbt or similar data transformation tools
- Familiarity with Apache Spark or distributed data processing frameworks
- Exposure to MLOps practices and production data platform collaboration
- Comfort operating in fast‑paced environments with an iterative, builder mindset
