Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a GIS Technician that will play a crucial role in gathering, understanding, executing, and documenting various business processes related to GIS. Key responsibilities will be to actively participate in the analysis, compilation, and cleansing of rail data to support informed business decision-making. Collaboration with GIS developers is essential in working closely together to achieve project goals. Furthermore, they will handle Data Extract requirements from business stakeholders, ensuring the accurate extraction of relevant information. This opportunity is located on-site in Calgary 5 days/week.
Required Skills & Experience
*Bachelor's Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Geomatics, or related discipline.
*1-3 years of experience in principles, concepts, practices, techniques, and tools in the areas of GIS.
*Experience using ESRI as core software.
* Experience creating cartographic Prints, PDFs, presentation level, and interactive Maps using GIS Desktop and Server tools
*Experience in working with data schemas, spatial data, and non-spatial data consumed by GIS
* Ability to perform QA/QC in support of day-to-day operational data change requests (Data Change Management)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
*Good problem-solving and analytical skills
*Excellent understanding of GIS Best practices
*Advanced MS Office skills (Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc)
*Ability to work independently and multi-task various assignments
*Proficiency in any of the following areas is preferred: ABAP programming, S/4HANA, SAP Fiori,
*Detailed system knowledge in customization and configuration of supported systems
*Familiarity with the Application Project Development Lifecycle
Strong process-driven background and process improvement orientation
