Insight Global is looking for multiple Jr GIS Technicians to join a large utility company in the Calgary area for a 18-month contract. As a member of the team, the successful candidate will primarily focus on the maintenance and updating of their mapping system of record, including the creation of GIS Presentation Mapping products.
Additional responsibilities include:
* Update data in GIS on as-built documents, engineering drawings and information submitted by various internal and external groups.
* Maintain the connected utility model
* Perform quality control checks of GIS data to ensure data integrity.
* Research company records to interpret system information.
* Produce, edit, analyze and model data as requested.
* Prepare specialized mapping products as required by various groups.
* Assist with the verification of data for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques and compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
* Manage and maintain system files and data to the required standards.
* Respond to inquiries and provide information as required.
* Assist in the development of GIS system procedures and standards for gas facility input, and the review of new applications and processes.
* Complete work within designated schedules and provide timely feedback when timeframes cannot be met.
* Other related duties as assigned.
* Diploma in GIS Technology, Geomatics Engineering Technology or equivalent related courses and experience, from a recognized technical institute.
* Knowledge of industry standards and procedures.
* Solid understanding of ArcGIS Pro or an equivalent GIS application.
* Ability to read and understand as-built records.
* Familiarity with the project process and the ability to effectively manage information from various sources.
* Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills along with the ability to express thoughts clearly both verbally and in writing.
* Ability to work independently under tight time constraints with little or no direct supervision.
