Data Migration Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on Data Migration Engineer to support a large-scale Azure modernization and migration initiative. This individual will serve as a key technical contributor responsible for migrating databases and infrastructure components from legacy Azure environments to a newly defined target-state architecture.

The ideal candidate is a "doer" who can quickly assess existing environments, execute migration activities, validate results, and partner with architects and engineering teams to ensure successful cutovers with minimal disruption. This role is best suited for someone who has deep experience performing large-scale data migrations and Azure infrastructure transformations rather than defining enterprise architecture strategy.

Responsibilities
Execute end-to-end database migration activities for MySQL and SQL-based workloads.
Assess legacy Azure subscriptions and resource dependencies to support migration planning.
Perform large-scale data transfers while minimizing application downtime and business disruption.
Design and execute data synchronization strategies to maintain source and target system alignment.
Validate migrated data through reconciliation, testing, and integrity verification processes.
Support Azure subscription and resource group restructuring initiatives.
Migrate and validate connectivity across Azure networking components.
Analyze and document infrastructure dependencies, connectivity requirements, and migration risks.
Partner with solution architects, cloud engineers, and platform teams to execute approved migration plans.
Develop migration runbooks, cutover plans, rollback procedures, and post-migration validation documentation.
Troubleshoot migration issues and drive remediation through completion.
Support knowledge transfer and stabilization activities following migration events.

Data Migration Expertise
5+ years of experience performing enterprise-scale data migration projects.
Strong experience migrating MySQL and SQL databases.
Experience executing large-scale data transfer and migration initiatives involving production environments.
Proven expertise implementing minimal-downtime migration and cutover strategies.
Experience with database synchronization, replication, and validation processes.
Strong understanding of data integrity verification and reconciliation techniques.
Experience creating migration runbooks, rollback plans, and post-migration validation procedures.
Azure Infrastructure Experience
Strong experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure.
Experience performing Azure subscription migrations and restructuring efforts.
Experience reorganizing Azure resource groups, workloads, and supporting services.
Hands-on experience with:
Azure Virtual Networks (VNets)
Private Endpoints
Network Security Groups (NSGs)
Azure Firewall Rules
Ability to identify and assess dependencies between Azure resources and connected systems.

Experience working within a Hub & Spoke Azure architecture.
Experience with Azure Landing Zones and governance frameworks.
Previous experience migrating workloads between Azure subscriptions or tenants.
Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.
Azure Network Engineer certification.
