Job Description
An employer is seeking an experienced OpenStack & Virtualization Administrator to design, build, support, and scale enterprise cloud and virtualization environments supporting internal customers and expanding lab infrastructure. This role combines hands-on engineering, architecture, operations, and stakeholder engagement, with responsibility for OpenStack, Linux administration, Kubernetes, Docker, virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM, Proxmox, XCP-ng, or Hyper-V), automation, and Infrastructure-as-Code. The ideal candidate will troubleshoot complex L3/L4 infrastructure issues, deploy and manage virtual machines and Kubernetes clusters, automate provisioning and configuration using Ansible, Terraform, Python, and shell scripting, and support CI/CD pipelines through Git and GitHub Actions. This individual will partner with engineering teams and internal stakeholders to design end-to-end infrastructure solutions spanning compute, networking, storage, and container platforms, while supporting lab expansion efforts, new hardware deployments, high availability, disaster recovery, and overall infrastructure reliability and scalability.

Required Skills & Experience
7-12+ years of experience as an Openstack and Virtualization Engineer
7+ years of experience with virtualization and virtualization platforms
7+ years of experience with OpenStack
7+ years of experience with Linux administration
7+ years of experience with Kubernetes, Docker and microservices, ansible and terraform/python scripting
7+ years of experience supporting and troubleshooting L3/L4 issues and escalations
7+ experience setting up new clusters, deploying virtual machines and containers
7+ years of experience configuring Git and GitHub actions
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience with storage platforms and technologies such as:
Ceph
Dell EMC
NetApp
Hitachi
SAN/NAS solutions
DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) experience.
Experience implementing observability and monitoring solutions.
Knowledge of cloud-native architecture and container orchestration best practices.
Experience building environments from the ground up in data center or lab environments.
Understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, and infrastructure scalability.
