Job Description

Work onsite Monday–Friday (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM) as part of a 5‑person scanning team, supporting a local Governments document digitization initiative. Report and work alongside the onsite lead onsite daily scanning and digitizing physical books and paper records from the County's departments in accordance with defined procedures. Operate a dedicated scanning workstation (scanner and computer), following established quality and accuracy standards. Perform high‑volume scanning work daily as part of a long‑term effort to digitize approximately 6,000 books over ~18–20 months.

Use county‑approved software tools to process, index, and verify scanned documents. Maintain organization, accuracy, and attention to detail while scanning documents continuously throughout the workday. Perform work primarily in a seated position at adjustable/telescoping tables designed for ergonomic support. Follow all county guidelines related to document handling, confidentiality, and equipment use.

Training & Ramp‑Up

Participate in structured onboarding and hands‑on training:

Day 1: Full day dedicated to scanner operation, software training, and workflow processes.
Week 1: Shadowing and side‑by‑side support while learning the scanning process.
Weeks 2+: Transition to independent work once fully trained.


Ongoing support available as needed, with the expectation of operating independently after approximately two weeks.

Required Skills & Experience

Ability to work onsite full‑time (Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM) in Madison County, Alabama.

Comfort with repetitive, high‑volume scanning and computer‑based work throughout the day.

Basic computer skills and the ability to learn and use new
software systems (training provided).

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented processes consistently.

Ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks; workstations are ergonomically adjustable.
Dependable, punctual, and able to commit to a long‑term engagement

Ability to work effectively as part of a small onsite team while also operating independently after training.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Previous experience in document scanning, data entry, records management, or administrative support is helpful but not required.
