Job Description

The Engineering Support Technician (EST) IV provides advanced field support for system installation, testing, and commissioning activities. This role works closely with project managers, commissioning teams, and subcontractors to ensure installations meet design intent, quality standards, and code requirements. The EST IV plays a key role in installation verification, pre‑functional testing, QA/QC documentation, and schedule adherence to support successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities


Field Coordination:
Collaborate with project managers, commissioning teams, and subcontractors to support installation readiness and testing milestones. Communicate schedule impacts, material constraints, and technical issues that may affect project execution.


Commissioning Support:
Provide hands‑on field support during system commissioning, including troubleshooting, functional testing, and system validation as required.


Code & Compliance Adherence:
Ensure all installation and testing activities comply with applicable codes, site‑specific requirements, and client standards.


Installation Verification:
Verify that all devices and systems are installed in accordance with approved drawings, manufacturer specifications, and project standards prior to testing and commissioning activities.


Schedule Accountability:
Support adherence to project schedules by completing assigned installation verification, quality assurance, and testing activities within defined timelines.


Pre‑Functional Testing (PFT):
Execute all required pre‑functional testing to validate that installed systems and components operate in accordance with project specifications and design intent. Document all test results and identify deficiencies prior to commissioning readiness.


Panel Trim‑Out:
Perform panel trim‑out activities to ensure system panels are properly assembled, labeled, and installation‑ready. Verify wiring terminations, device connections, and panel configurations meet quality and safety standards in preparation for final system integration.


Quality Assurance & Reporting:
Conduct weekly quality assurance reviews to assess installation progress and compliance with project requirements. Document findings, track corrective actions, and update project tracking systems to maintain accurate QA/QC reporting.

Required Skills & Experience

NICET Level II certification or higher (required)
Proven experience supporting system installation, testing, and commissioning in a field environment
Strong understanding of installation verification, pre‑functional testing, and QA/QC processes
Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and compliance requirements
Experience interpreting drawings, specifications, and manufacturer documentation
Ability to troubleshoot field issues and support corrective actions
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Effective communication skills and ability to coordinate with multiple project stakeholders
Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, field‑driven environment
