Job Description

- The HVAC technician’s responsibilities will focus on the maintenance and servicing of all HVAC components.
- All work assignments will be given through the Building Maintenance Supervisor.
- These assignments will include but not limited to making weekday rounds, washing out condenser coils, routine inspections and repairs, maintenance of boilers and chillers, etc.
When not performing HVAC responsibilities, other maintenance duties will be assigned. Typical assignments might be to assist the other team members with electrical repairs, installing or removing equipment or appliances, light plumbing or carpentry, running HVAC or other parts, etc.
- Routine days are basically 8 hours. With manager’s approval, the daily start- and end-times are flexible, especially in the during peak summer a/c run times.
- Emergency work might be required after hours and on weekends.
- Alternating rounds with the rest of the maintenance crew will be required during long holiday shutdowns.
- There are approximately 80 building across DREC, with roughly 25 of them that have HVAC components.
- This position will be part of the Building Maintenance Team. Including this position, this department totals three full-time employees.
- Lift items up to 100 pounds and the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, climb, kneel and balance as part of performing job tasks.

Required Skills & Experience

- High school diploma, GED or suitable equivalent.
- Must be HVAC Certified
- 5+ year experience as an HVAC technician, with majority being Commercial
○ Less than 5 years will be HVAC tech level 1
- Thorough knowledge on methods and practices in installing heating and cooling equipment, ability to diagnose, repair central heating and cooling/refrigeration systems.
- Experience with compressors, condenser motors, pumps, evaporator coils, humidity and temperature controls, control panels, switches, gauges, fuses, capacitors, filters, tubing, etc.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- EPA Certified
- Plumbing, ice maker repair, rough carpentry, heavy equipment operator experience.
- OSHA safety training.
