Job Description

A client is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Huntsville, AL. This person will join an existing team in early phases of design and development of brand new, ground breaking product in the energy space. This is analysis of the designs of subsystems and subassemblies to accuracy on things like load bearings, material used, etc.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of Mechanical Design Engineering, analyzing designs of complex subsystems as a part of broader design effort
Ability to perform hand calculations to support design and analysis of multiple system elements (excel, mathCAD)
Experience creating and reviewing design reports for customer
Experience reviewing and approving detailed manufacturing drawings

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

ANSYS
Experience with SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM.
Nuclear experience or ASME BPVC - boilers and pressure vessels
Handcalc experience specific to gas distribution piping, roller bearing load calculations, gear and torsional shaft calculations, and study of thermal expansion effects
