Insight Global is seeking a level II-IV Staff Scientist to join the University of Alabama at Birmingham Neurobiological Research department. This person will be testing behavioral equipment weekly or after each use to ensure it is in working order for the users. They will be maintaining and repairing behavioral equipment and developing and implementing behavioral protocols known to work in a variety of rodent strains. Working with faculty and laboratory personnel to train users in proper use of equipment, behavioral protocols, data handling, data analysis, graphing, and interpretation of behavioral data. Also, working with laboratory personnel and faculty to design and develop new protocols as needed. Providing text for methods and results sections of grant applications and papers as requested. Communicating, disseminating, and advertising Behavioral Core capabilities to ensure equitable access and continued client base. Working with Rodent Behavioral Core Operating Committee to ensure that Behavioral Core space is optimized for maximum benefit to all users. Monitoring and oversee users of the Rodent Behavioral Core to ensure equitable access to and proper use of equipment. Tracking usage and billing users in using existing software systems. This will require communication, outreach, explaining, and one-on-one interactions with department managers, faculty, among others. Outreach to various departments and centers to learn of their needs and to inform them of the core's capabilities with the goal of growing and broadening the core's user base over time to ensure financial stability.
