You will leverage your debug and diagnostic skills and utilize a wide array of failure analysis techniques to isolate the root cause of hardware failures. You will also communicate your findings and recommendations to a highly cross-functional team to influence and drive improvements to the quality of current and future products.To be successful in this role, you will have a passion for failure analysis, fault isolation, and troubleshooting. You will possess a strong curiosity for understanding failures at a symptom level, and through robust failure analysis techniques, dive deeper towards the root cause. You will be dependable and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to thrive in a highly cross-functional environment.Responsibilities:? Perform engineering-level failure analysis of Reality Labs Devices.? Own the end-to-end failure analysis process ? from failure replication at the system level to failure isolation at the module and component level.? Investigate components, assemblies, and manufacturing processes to find the root causes of various product failures.? Identify and drive closure to hardware design risks, assembly escapes, poor module quality, as well as software/firmware issues affecting product performance and reliability. Generate necessary test scenarios and collect data needed to isolate failure modes.? Collaborate with relevant internal (mechanical, electrical, quality, software engineering teams) and external (vendors) stakeholders.? Provide inputs to the design and process teams to improve design quality and production yield. This can be completed through lessons learned and developmental systems tear-downs to identify risk factors.? Participate in the execution of failure analysis for any possible field safety escalations.? Utilize various diagnostic equipment to characterize failures (power supply, oscilloscope, audio tester, thermal camera, microscope).? Organize and manage lab space including testing areas, assembly areas, and other project workspaces.? An employer is seeking multiple Chief Project Engineers for a long-term opportunity in the Plano, TX area. The Chief Project Engineers will operate as a hands-on technical and program lead, owning... On a weekly basis, they will build and manage detailed schedules using MS Project, define and adjust scope across rolling three-month planning cycles, and coordinate closely with cross-functional engineering teams (systems, electrical, hardware, and software) to ensure progress toward key milestones. They will track labor, material costs, and staffing plans against forecasts, working alongside Control Account Managers to monitor actuals versus budget and make real-time adjustments as needed. The role requires a strong understanding of EVMS principles, including CPI and SPI, and the ability to perform monthly variance analysis while contributing to program reviews and financial reporting. Additionally, the engineer will lead ongoing risk management activities, conducting regular risk assessments across cost, schedule, and technical execution and driving mitigation strategies throughout the lifecycle of the program. From a technical standpoint, they will lead integration and test planning efforts, guide high-level validation activities, and ensure readiness for customer demonstrations. Candidates will regularly interface with internal stakeholders and external customers, contribute to cost generation and technical write-ups, and continuously adapt program plans based on evolving priorities. This role will start fully onsite in Plano, TX to support ramp-up and collaboration, with flexibility to transition to a hybrid schedule over time, operating on a 9/80 work schedule.
