JOB DESCRIPTION:
Insight Global's energy management client is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Webster, TX.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer works cross-functionally with a team to develop and execute tests for existing product designs and provide testing services to address customer needs. This position is fully immersed in our process which involves the development of testing procedures for rigorous testing and analysis activities that enhance design and understanding for their customers.
Day-to-day:
• Percentage breakdown of responsibilities:
○ 80% design
§ Someone who has expert design experience
§ Comfortable with rinsing/repeating the same design/concept within CAD Solidworks
§ Able to help with new designs
○ 20% lab
• Provides guidance in design and assembly of KULR’s innovative testbeds and testing apparatuses.
• Conducts destructive and performance-based test programs for both internal and customer-provided materials, components, and assembled systems.
• Designs, develops, prototypes, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery.
• Develops specifications for new parts or prototypes. Identifies appropriate materials and processes to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of products.
• Uses CAD software and other design and modeling tools to develop and improve parts and products.
• Conducts analysis and tests to determine weaknesses and failures in prototypes or products.
Participates in cross-training as mutually agreed upon by the engineer and their supervisor to further support business needs.

Required Skills & Experience
MUST HAVES:
• Active PE License
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required.
• 7-14 years of related experience.
• High current, high voltage design experience.
• Experience in microelectronics and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) development.
• Experience with multiple programming languages including but not limited to: python, MATLAB, C++, Javascript, SQL, HTML.
• Experience with different communication protocols including but not limited to RS232, ethernet, USB, CAN, DroneCAN, CANFD.
Design to prototype to testing experience required
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
PLUSSES:
• Previous Battery Management (BMS) experience
• Uninterruptable power supply (UPS) experience
• Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)/GRID and distributed BMS architecture
Demonstrated use of Altium, KiCAD, Solidworks Electrical or similar (CAD, CAE)
