Job Description

Job Summary:
The Weld Department Coordinator ensures efficient daily operations of weld lines, focusing on production accuracy, quality control, and team support. This role is responsible for monitoring performance metrics, maintaining compliance with company procedures, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure Daily Production Check Sheets are available and signed every 4 hours.
Verify weld line schedules and shortages against actual production.
Conduct daily meetings with weld team leaders to review Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery (S, Q, C, D).
Drive OEE improvements (target range: 68–76%) and reduce weld defects.
Monitor sub-inventories in Plex and adjust schedules accordingly.
Oversee line production and implement contingency plans when needed.
Support training and coaching for weld department staff.
Perform daily audits, including part quality checks.
Report issues promptly to the assistant manager.
Track and manage daily overtime requirements.
Update manpower labor maps weekly.
Coordinate with stamping to ensure part availability.
Create and maintain work instructions; ensure associate sign-off.
Enforce JSC policies and report non-conformances.
Lead monthly continuous improvement initiatives (SAP).
Collaborate with QA Pro on HTR/DTR responses.
Maintain 5S standards across the weld department.
Ensure proper associate login/logout in Plex.
Respond to line calls and log issues exceeding 30 minutes.
Verify driver check tables for tool accuracy and presence.
Monitor document revisions on the weld floor.
Support smooth new model launches with minimal spikes.
Maintain TPM schedules to ensure machinery uptime.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree or 2–5 years of relevant experience; internal applicants should have 2+ years in a leadership role.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
Experience with ERP systems; PLEX preferred.
Solid decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
Basic understanding of welding processes (MIG, projection) and mechanical systems.
Exposure to QS/ISO 9000 standards and lean manufacturing environments is a plus.
Prior experience with high-volume resistance spot welding is beneficial.
Must be a full-time JSC associate for at least 3 months with a strong attendance and safety record.
No written warnings in the past 6 months.
Must consistently meet or exceed safety, quality, and productivity targets.
Willingness to work overtime, including weekends, as needed.
