Job Description

Insight Global is in search for a Director of Compliance and Administration that will support a well established client of ours. This person will ensure regulatory compliance across all business operations (sales tax, excise tax, tobacco regulations, shipping, etc.). Advise and assist the CEO on legal and compliance decisions. Oversee HR administration (for ~50 employees across 3 locations). Support or manage relationships with external legal counsel and regulatory agencies. Ensure the company adheres to all applicable state and federal laws, including employment and trade compliance.

Responsibilities:
Legal & Compliance-
Maintain company licenses, permits, and registrations (especially for tobacco and shipping).
Manage sales tax, excise tax filings, and ensure multi-state tax compliance.
Stay current on regulations affecting cigar sales (FDA, ATF, state excise laws, etc.).
Draft, review, and manage contracts (vendors, distributors, employment, NDAs, etc.).
Liaise with outside counsel for specialized matters.

Human Resources-
Oversee onboarding, benefits administration, payroll coordination, and compliance with labor laws.
Maintain and update employee handbook and policies.
Handle employee relations, performance review coordination, and disciplinary procedures.
Ensure compliance with OSHA and workplace safety requirements.

Administrative Leadership-
Serve as a key advisor to the CEO on policy, compliance, and strategic initiatives.
Manage administrative staff and workflows to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Participate in budget planning and resource allocation.

Required Skills & Experience

• JD (Juris Doctor) preferred or equivalent experience in legal/compliance management.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Legal Studies, or Human Resources (minimum)
• 5–10 years of experience in a legal, compliance, or administrative leadership role.
• Experience in regulated industries (tobacco/cigars or similar preferred).
• Working knowledge of multi-state sales tax, excise tax, and shipping compliance.
• HR management experience in a small-to-mid-sized company (30–100 employees).
• Strong understanding of business law, contracts, and compliance frameworks.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Proficient with HRIS and accounting/tax software (e.g., ADP, QuickBooks, Avalara).
