Job Description

The CUAS Radar Systems SME is a highly specialized technical authority in radar systems, focusing on threat detection and tracking technologies for low, slow, small (LSS) aerial targets. This expert translates operational needs into precise system requirements and guides radar system architecture to ensure scalability and adaptability to evolving threats. They lead trade studies and design reviews, using modeling and simulation tools to validate radar performance in complex electromagnetic environments. The SME plays a key role in acquisition planning, source selection, and contract management, ensuring technical accuracy and enforceability. They oversee testing and evaluation processes, confirming radar systems meet performance requirements and are interoperable with other DoD and allied systems. Collaboration across engineering disciplines and stakeholder engagement through briefings and documentation are essential aspects of the role. Additionally, the SME stays current with emerging radar technologies and mentors junior technical staff to build organizational expertise.

Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related STEM discipline
- 5+ years of direct experience in systems engineering, preferably in defense or aerospace
- Active TS/SCI security clearance (TS will be considered)
- Hands-on experience with test planning, execution, and verification/validation
- Proficiency in developing technical briefs and documentation
- Experience in requirements management and systems integration
- Familiarity with radar, electromagnetic warfare, or kinetic defeat technologies

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Master’s degree in engineering or related STEM field
- 10+ years supporting DoD weapon systems or programs
- Previous experience working within an Army Program Office
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic environments
