Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Associate Linux Admin to support a federal client in Suffolk, VA. The Linux Admin will be supporting a federal program that's responsible for training military forces to respond to crises around the globe. From armed conflict to providing humanitarian support after natural disasters, this force relies on joint training across all military branches, Combatant Commands, and Components to be ready to respond at a moment's notice. This specific team supports this effort in building the technical capabilities that this force relies on. They develop exercise planning, data, and simulation systems that mimic real life environments and weapons systems. The Linux Admin's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Researches new technology and advises on purchases for the client in regard to processing, data storage, data access, and applications development.
* Under limited supervision, responsible for the continuous operation of servers, networks and related infrastructure supporting information systems.
* Serves as an engineering liaison to the Joint Staff production team to help coordinate complex new capabilities and technologies designed by multiple engineering teams.
* Installs new software releases, patches, updates and managers the overall configuration to ensure it is up to date and secure
* Solves complex datacenter operations challenges and coordinates fielding plans
* Perform hardware and software troubleshooting --Troubleshoot networking issues (Linux, Windows Networking, TCP/IP)
* Must be able to Install, Maintain, and Upgrade computer hardware and software
* Install, configure and update Operating Systems and Application Software
* Monitor use of system resources, hard disk, cpu, and memory
Required Skills & Experience
Must-Haves:
- Be able to obtain secret clearance
- 2+ years' experience working with Linux
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
- Obtain sec+ cert within 60 days of hire (or a higher level certification)
- Experience w/ Linux server operating systems and configuration
- Experience with Microsoft server/windows client and database
- Knowledge of IT systems and network troubleshooting
- Linux shell scripting
