Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to support Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. In this role you will contribute Kubernetes platform capabilities to facilitate streamlined use of AWS cloud and enterprise resources. You will interface directly with tenants offering architectural guidance to optimize for cost and performance. Utilizing cutting edge cloud native tools these systems will be responsible for processing and exploitation of large volumes of sensor data that meaningfully contribute to our national defense. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science degree in technology and 10-15 years of experience. This position will be mostly remote with limited work (~20%) required at government site. Active Top Secret security clearance required.

Required Skills & Experience

7- 10 years of minimum experience in a software focused engineering career (Software Engineer, DevOps Engineer, System Administrator, etc.)

1 year of minimum experience developing software for one of the public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google)

Bachelor of Science in IT or Engineering discipline

Mastery of software configuration management using Git.

Strong background in Linux based development or administration

Expertise in one or more software development languages (Golang / Java / Python / etc.)

Familiar with Container Technology (Docker / podman / etc.)

Familiar with PaaS (Kubernetes / Mesos / Nomad / etc.) development and operations.

Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form with peers & decision makers

Demonstrate initiative when faced with limited guidance or ambiguous requirements

Conversant in modern Kubernetes distributions and orchestration of container workloads

Experienced designing and deploying systems of moderate to high complexity using public cloud offerings

High-level of comfort with Linux, automation tools and CI/CD build systems

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

* Master of Science in IT or Engineering discipline

* Familiar following GitFlow and GitOps workflows using team repository (GitHub / Gitlab / etc.)

* Experience with Kubernetes serverless frameworks (Knative, OpenFaas, etc.)

* Application of Configuration as Code with one or more of the following: Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Foreman, Terraform, Pulumi

* Familiar with packaging and deployment tools for Kubernetes (Helm / Kustomize / etc.)

* Understanding of DoD Authority To Operate (ATO) requirements
