Job Description

A large pharmaceutical company is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer who can operate at the intersection of scientific research and cloud infrastructure, with strong technical expertise and the ability to communicate effectively with scientists. This role will focus on migrating and optimizing scientific workflows, managing cloud operations, and contributing to data pipeline improvements for production systems.

Key Responsibilities
• Workflow Migration & Optimization:
o Migrate “Trajectories Monitor” draft code into the “QSAR Monitor” production system.
o Review and simplify the use of Onyx data pipeline constructs within QSAR Monitor.
• Cloud & DevOps Operations:
o Manage deployments using Cloud Run and GCP services.
o Implement best practices for DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.
• Scientific Collaboration:
o Engage with scientists to understand research workflows and translate them into scalable cloud solutions.
o Communicate with empathy and humility, building trust and fostering collaboration.
• Resource & Project Support:
o Assist project managers with resource planning (bench management, resumes, team deployment).
o Contribute to strategic delivery in Q1/Q2, then pivot to other projects as needed.

$80-90/hr

Required Skills & Experience

+ years of hands-on engineering experience (ability to design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient systems)
• Technical Stack - Python, BigQuery, Cloud Run, Onyx GCP.
• Familiarity with HPC environments (SLURM – on-prem) and cloud solutions (Azure)
• Ability to lead in a consultative role and drive greenfield builds.
o Experience with pipeline pilots, analytics, and green systems.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Cheminformatics experience
• Pharmaceutical experience
• Experience scaling generative design systems.
• Familiarity with AIPL, OBatch, SLURM, and Azure environments.
• Previous work with scientific or small molecule design projects.
