Job Description

Insight Global's large manufacturing client is looking for a Structural Engineer to join their team remotely. The company has a number of in-house engineering services that support its 50+ manufacturing plants including, structural, mechanical, electrical, process, controls and technical. The type of projects range in size and scope from large Capital projects that begin in the conceptual phase all the way through final design and construction, to plant request projects when individual plants call for support for various structural needs. This person will be required to find unique solutions to engineering challenges, perform calculations, make sketches to be CAD'ed by drafters, write reports, work with outside contractors and vendors and make site visits to plants as the need arises. Additionally, they will write specifications, request for quotes, develop preliminary designs, MTO's (material-takeoffs) and man-hour estimates.



* Speaking with plant personnel to understand their needs.

* Run calculations, make sketches, and work closely with other engineering disciplines- specifically the mechanical design team.

* Travel to plants 15-20% of the time.

* Responsible for the design of existing structures and new builds.

* Communicate with all levels of engineers- Junior to Director level.

* Utilize RISA 3D and Tekla Tedds for design.

Required Skills & Experience

* Bachelor's Degree in engineering.

* 10-20 years of structural design experience- specifically industrial building design.

* Design experience with steel and concrete structures.

* Strong experience as a Lead Engineer.

* PE License in at least one state.

* Knowledge of structural design software (e.g. CAD, STAAD Pro, SAFE, RISA 3D, etc.)

* Extremely strong communication skills!

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

* Illinois SE (Structural Engineer) License.

* RISA 3D experience.

* Ability to write SOWs.

* Drafting experience in CAD or SolidWorks.

* Masonry experience.
